Published in BMC Pregnancy and Childbirth, this article evaluates the effect of the Standards Based Management and Recognition approach to quality improvement, determining it’s ability to strengthen routine maternal and newborn health (MNH) services after being implemented in Ethiopia. The evaluation assessed the effect of the intervention on MNH providers’ performance of routine antenatal care, uncomplicated labor and delivery and immediate postnatal care services.
